Leandros and fantastic Slovakian pianist Jozef Janik are delighted to announce a recital of Robert Schumann’s great and enigmatic song-cycle Dichterliebe.  The recital will be taking place at The Forge in Camden Town  http://www.forgevenue.org/ , a stunning modern chamber music venue with a superb acoustic and intimate atmosphere.  Dichterliebe will be coupled with Schumann’s set of charming piano miniatures Kinderszenen.

Often regarded as Schumann’s greatest song-cycle, Dichterliebe (A Poet’s Love) maps a complex and often pained emotional journey from musings during springtime, through to recollections of happy times spent with a lost loved one, reflections on unrequited love, the yearning for a dreamlike world, and the final resolution to shut away love and sadness. Although written only two years earlier, the piano work Kinderszenen (Scenes from Childhood), with it’s playful and innocent reminiscences of childhood is altogether more optimistic and a great introduction to Schumann’s compact and brilliantly-crafted style.

The concert will be taking place on Sunday 3 March 2013 at 3pm.
